It's Here! MWMF 2009!

The 6th Annual Madison World Music Festival has finally arrived to kick off the Wisconsin Union Directorate - Theater Committee's 2009-2010 Season! We've just concluded our second night of performances from Red Baraat, Kepa Junkera, Kusun Dance Ensemble and workshops with Parno Grazst! There was a lot of great dancing happening on the built-in dance floor in front of the terrace stage, so be sure to make use of it when you come join us this weekend!

Not going to be at the start of the day's events? Follow our Twitter page (http://twitter.com/uniontheater) for Live updates from the Info tables on who's on, location changes, photos, and everything you need to know about the festival. We're also offering ice cream for Tweets, so be sure to tweet @uniontheater when we ask! If you're tweeting from the terrace or about the festival, use our festival hashtag #MWMF and #MWMF2009. Tweet at us or about the festival and we'll RT you!

Drop by either of our info tables on the terrace (outside Lakefront on Langdon and summer stage right) for season info, Madison World Music Fest guides, schedules, or to ask any of our volunteers questions about the festival. While you're there, you can pick up a MWMF button! Also located stage right is our merchandise sales for artists' cds, usually available just before they go on stage. So if there's someone you especially like, make sure you get their cd before they leave the stage!

If you missed tonight's performances, you can catch Red Baraat and Kusun Ensemble this weekend at the Chicago World Music Festival (http://www.worldmusicfestivalchicago.org/). As always, you can find the full Madison festival line-up online at our website, www.uniontheater.wisc.edu/worldmusicfest/index.html, along with our festival guide available for download.

We are also offering a special deal for the festival's ONLY ticketed event: The Mystical Arts of Tibet on Saturday, September 19, 8pm at the Wisconsin Union Theater. Come to our Box Office (800 Langdon St) and you can purchase a general public ticket for only $15! Youth tickets are available for $12 up to age 18, with purchase of a $15 ticket. UW-Madison students can still buy tickets from only $10! You can also purchase tickets online (subject to fees). Don't forget to go see the Drepung Loseling Monks continue to construct the sand mandala in the Main Lounge at the Memorial Union starting at 11am tomorrow until Sunday.

Whether you are young or old, native or foreign, the Madison World Music Festival is FREE and here for everyone to enjoy! So put on your dancing shoes and your party hat and start this weekend off right -- beginning with Mucca Pazza at 3pm at the Terrace tomorrow!
